Some press about Plat - Bíræfni :

    Smallfish - UK
Excellent, slightly doom-laden and eerie electronica that has a slight Icelandic feel (ie, melodic, atmospheric and kinda cinematic whilst still being quite subtile).
Wouldn't look out of place on Warp, Morr Music, Fat Cat, Vertical Form or all manner of decent labels. Includes a Funckarma remix.
This is growing on me to more I listen to it, actually - definately check out this sublime 5-tracker....

    Plat - Biraefni (Prospect Recordings)

    Plat - Biraefni (Prospect Recordings)
A new artist on Hilversum's Prospect imprint, featuring Funckarma on a remix tip. There are 5 tracks on offer, the first side has 3 tracks of IDM soundscapes that are written with a certain delicacy providing the tracks with a tender and subtle feel, spaced synths, slow hip hop-esque beats that run underneath and an undercurrent of emotion that shines through from start to finish. `Flokt' contains dark synths and subtle guitar like strings fading in and out while the broken beat stabs slowly away, the tentative strings work over the top and a music box like noise plays simple yet emotive vibes throughout, giving the track a certain broken edge. Flip for the Funckarma remix, the only track on offer to utilise a full-bodied beat under the layers of noise and instrumentation, a stabbing sub bass and crunchy percussion used to rework the track into a more solid structure - a crunchy workout of the highest calibre. Keeping the lush quota high and adding their own percussive patterns and `buffer' style staggers, they deliver a track formulated somewhere between the a-side and the ethereal workings of Murcof. A good start to what is set to be a very good label, ace!

    Plat - Biraefni (Prospect Recordings)
"2nd release on this small obscure but fine label from Holland. Four lush, melodious tracks by two Icelandic multi instrumentalist producers. Biraefni is their debut release and combines abstract electronic structures and beautiful melodies with live drums and guitar. Although they claim not to be inspired by nature most listeners will find themselves embedded in a field of subtile layers with new sights on every horizon once you start listening... over and over.. On top a final massive bonus remix by the Funckarma bros. is included. Their treat is a rough change of mood in comparison to the original, with a more extreme complex rhythm section, not to miss."

    Various Artists - Expertise (Prospectrecordings)
Compilation of a new label from Holland, Hilversum, who comes with a table of acts from which some are certainly known to people who listen to Electronica sometimes. Loess, Funckarma, Multiplex and EU e.g.. Who all are so good that one probably already know you’ll be able to cover yourself with this release for the coming year. Perhaps one should look oneself up to the Japanese and find a third job. Music between beautifully tingling Electronica Tracks of the technically experienced type. Primary school amusement and much more from all over the globe. A classic! Also with: Ad-Jap, star As Eyes, Frank Murder, Delet_ER_Boy, The Tendrils OF Emptiness, Mr. Projectile, Adam Johnson, Jonas, Gridlock, Slemper, Disassemble and Witsy. Yep, there's something big coming towards us...

Klassiker. Mit dabei: Ad-Jap, Stars As Eyes, Frank Murder, Delet_ER_Boy, The Tendrils Of Emptiness, Mr. Projectile, Adam Johnson, Jonas, Gridlock, Slemper, Disassemble und Witsy. Tja. Various - Expertise (Prospect)
The world of electronica is a worldwide web, is being proven on the first release of Hilversummer DJ Onanon, specialist in crispy beats and bleeps from the Warpschool. From his own contacts and by the internet he got in touch with a score of producers from Sweden, Iceland, Australia, the US, England, Canada and Russia. Maybe you’ll know EU from St. Petersburg, who used original violin sounds from a friend for Only Strings and probably you’ve heard Multiplex before or Vonk (here Tendrills of Emptiness) and Warp act Slum (on this CD as Witsy). Funckarma is probably the best known name on this CD, together with Slemper and Jonas they represent the Dutch scene on this excellent CD. Label it with a hip Toytronic- or DeFocus label and you’ll be sure it will be out of stock before you know it…

Various Artists – Expertise: A Prospect recordings compilation
    Label: Prospect
Hilversummer Jasper Wiegers, known as Dj Onanon, compiles 16 tracks from international Electronica purists on his new label. Among others are Mr. Projectile and Multiplex from the English cult label Toytronic. The Russians EU and Dutch Funckarma wake up the hidden souls of electronica. Crispy beats refer to far away hip hop influences, soundscapes and melodies from the early nineties. The beauty of the productions reveal, for the non initiated listeners, probably after a couple of listening sessions but keep you in a warm embrace… Melodies fade into deep mental states. The closing track Busted Door by Witsy refers to the minimalism of Erik Satie and is a suitable final for this intriguing compilation.

    Various - Expertise (Prospectrecordings)
A new label opening with a dope compilation. Featuring contributions from : Stars as Eyes, Multiplex, Funckarma, Eu and Mr Projectile among countless others, the flavour here is distinctly developed electronica. Tigerbeat 6 frat boys Stars as Eyes mangle the hip hop bounce with a downtempo flicker, all deep beats and soulful subtexts; flawlessly executed. The oddly named ‘Tendrils of Emptiness’ head for the classic IDM textbook, but execute with much charm. DSP factors kept to an edible medium run, complex enough for most appetite’s and melodic enough to play to your nanna at breakfast. Things get seriously interesting with Adam Johnson’s superb ‘Jernt’ : the flow of each melodic strand making for a complex whole, devoured with a crisp and clear underpinning beat that amounts to one of those electronic tracks that reminds you of so much classic IDM, but sounds sparkling fresh with every repeated listen. Lovely. Toytronic’s Mr Projectile and Multiplex follow, the former extending their fast growing cannon of work with another surefire fast-paced winner, while the latter imbue proceeding with a symphonic strand that oozes warmth and soundscape vision. Funckarma have already made an appearance today, their contribution here retaining an undeniably rugged and complex percussive structure, tamed with a look to the future circa Blade Runner and it’s apoccalyptic soundscapes. 16 tracks wide, superb home listening.
